Interventional radiologists are specially trained physicians who provide minimally invasive, highly targeted treatments for a wide variety of conditions. Guided by X-rays, ultrasound and other imaging technologies, they use small needles, guide-wires and tubes (catheters) to treat the internal source of a medical condition without the need for surgery.

In fact, interventional radiology is now the first line of treatment for many conditions that once required surgery.
