What is Interventional Radiology?
Interventional radiologists are specially trained physicians who provide minimally invasive, highly targeted treatments for a wide variety of conditions. Guided by X-rays, ultrasound and other imaging technologies, they use small needles, guide-wires and tubes (catheters) to treat the internal source of a medical condition without the need for surgery.
At University Radiology, our board-certified interventional radiologists are among New Jersey's leaders in specialized, nonsurgical procedures to diagnose and treat many common medical conditions as well as rare disorders. In fact, interventional radiology is now the first line of treatment for many conditions that once required surgery. For patients, interventional radiology can provide a safer alternative to open surgery - with less pain and a shorter recovery time.
Our interventional radiology services are offered at our affiliated hospitals and at our vein centers.
